What Did People Eat Back Then?

What Did People Eat Back Then?

I participate in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a worldwide educational organization which focuses on studying the arts and sciences of pre-1600 CE. We study the martial arts (armored combat, fencing, archery, and thrown weapons), clothing, embroidery, brewing, calligraphy, and so many other topics. If you can name something the ancients did, we probably study it. At one time, I tried my hand at making my own garb, but I didn't know what the heck I was doing. I managed to sew some outfits together, by hand. I don't know what time period they represent, if any. All I was trying to do was basically fit in. At SCA events, everyone wears garb from the past. I made an attempt, and that's all that's required - that you attempt…

Life Happens Decorating the Christmas Tree  When life happens and the stress of work and  family life gets you down, especially during the holiday season, taking time  for yourself is not high on the list of things to do. There is just not enough  time or energy in the day. After all, there are guest lists to make, menus to  plan, gifts to buy, and holiday parties to attend. Taking My Site "Live" Getting my site set up and ready for business has not been an easy task for me. I am quite technologically challenged. However, my site is up and ready now. I let you know last week that I would tell you how things went when I took my site live and made it searchable. I was quite nervous about taking it "live," let me tell you. As in most things, my fears were quite unfounded. My site was already live. It just wasn't able to be found by search engines. Once my site was ready to be found, I made it searchable. And guess what? Nothing happened. Because I haven't yet learned about SEO, I know my site will not rank high on searches. However, that…

Hello, World!

Hello, World!

Welcome to my new world! Now, I'm not comparing myself to Magellan or Columbus. For one thing, I'm not dead. For another, I'm not some old guy that sails big, creaky, wooden ships across the ocean. I'm just someone launching herself into the business world. My name is Alecia Ramsey, and I am a copywriter. "What is a copywriter?" you ask. Well, let me try to explain. But first, let me give some slogans and ask a few questions. Perhaps you remember some of these: "I'm Lovin' It" (McDonald's) "Finger-Lickin' Good" (KFC) "Eat Fresh" (Subway) "Taste the Rainbow" (Skittles) "Snap! Crackle! Pop!" (Rice Krispies) "They're Gr-r-r-reat!" (Frosted Flakes) "Maybe She's Born With It, Maybe It's Maybelline." (Maybelline) "Because You're Worth It" (L'Oreal) "A Diamond Is Forever" (De Beers) "Just Do…
